At school Leona Graham was the kid who’d always bring in mix tapes for her friends, making them check out the latest band; now she’s on your radio reliving those same great 80s hits, broadcasting weekdays from 5pm plus on Saturday evenings at 6 with The 80s Hour which is simulcast on our sister station, Absolute Radio.
Leona hadn't planned a career in radio and turned up at Warwick University to study drama when she stumbled upon the student radio station and it all started from there. She's been at One Golden Square since 2000 but there can't be a person in the country who hasn't heard Leona's voice on television adverts and promotional trailers. She's been the voice of everything from Footballers' Wives to ER.
Elisabeth Mahoney from the Guardian describes Leona as having "a gorgeously purring delivery... so sultry voiced that every invitation to text a request into the studio sounds like an indecent proposal."
When she's not on-air, Leona - who's a qualified school teacher - is spending time with her young children and dogs.
